We Know You Would Want to Know This, Pinoy Seafarers

Jan 25, 2015

Are you one of the thousands of Filipino seafarers who are upset of slow processing of your documents? Well, worry no more. Here’s a good news to all Filipino seafarers, and land-based overseas workers.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration or POEA has now online services for licensed recruitment and manning agencies.

POEA developed ePayment and Recruitment Authority Issuance System to make the activities with agencies faster.

The ePayment system will allow agencies to submit online request for processing of contracts for their hired workers. Once this is approved, manning agencies can pay for the fees at POEA accredited banks. They can also print the overseas employment certificate or OEC for the Filipino seafarer.

The Recruitment Authority Issuance System on the other hand let agencies request for special recruitment authority (SRA) and letter of acknowledgement. Manning agencies can also upload documentary requirements and view the status of their application with this system.

SRA is issued by POEA so agencies can conduct recruitment activities outside their business address stated in their license, while the letter of acknowledgement is given to foreign employers or its representatives to do recruitment activities inside or outside the agencies’ premises.

Though these new systems processes documents for skilled and professional workers only, these would surely ease and make the employment procedure faster than before. This would then result to quick deployment of Filipino seafarers to board ships and vessels.
