MARINA On-Line Appointment System: The Quick Way to Ease the Long Queue

Sep 23, 2014
For years, Filipino seafarers have been patiently waiting in line for hours at the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) office to obtain their respective certificates.

Well, guess what!  The long wait in the long queues is finally over.

With the help of SeamanJobsite.com Team, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) will soon launch its on-line appointment system for the issuance of Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Identification and Record Book (SIRB), Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Certificate, Certificate of Proficiency (COP), and Certificate of Competency (COC).

In commemoration of the 2014 National Maritime Week Celebration (NMWC), the MARINA On-Line Appointment System Soft Launch will be held on September 25.  On the other hand, seafarers can start using the on-line appointment system in October 2014 where they may select the type of document they wish to process and choose their preffered time and date to pick up the requested document.

The said on-line appointment system was made possible through Quantum X, Inc., the site owner of the country’s leading jobsite for seafarers, SeamanJobsite.com.

At the recent Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing last August 15, 2014 at the MARINA Board Room, both parties expressed their willingness to unite for the success of the project.  According to the agreement, SeamanJobsite.com will develop, host, and provide all the technological assistance and maintenance to MARINA’s on-line appointment system while MARINA will be responsible in managing and updating the admin section of the website and shall provide the web contents such as the forms and the terms and conditions for the use of the website.

Likewise, during the momentous event, MARINA Administrator Maximo Q Mejia, Jr. acknowledged the goodwill of Quantum X, Inc. to offer their service to make the on-line appointment system possible at no cost.

In return, Quantum X Inc. Managing Director, Mr. Robert John Oh said that their company is grateful to serve the country in whatever capacity Quantum X may provide.

Witnesses to the signing of the MOA are: MARINA Deputy Executive Director for STCW Office, Atty. Jabeth Sena Jepath A. Dacanay and Quantum X, Inc. Sales and Marketing Manager Ms. Rhea Suiza.
