Protecting your rights as a Seafarer - International MLC Survey
The Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006) was adopted by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2006 and entered into force on 20 August 2013. The goal of the Convention is to safeguard the rights of seafarers, irrespective of their nationality and/or the ownership of the vessel on which they are employed.
Working with the Wismar Business School / European Project Center, we have designed a questionnaire to request information on your experiences as Seafarers, after the implementation of MLC on 20th August 2013.
The survey aims to examine your level of satisfaction from any improvements you have noticed. We would like to hear about your terms of employment, the recruitment procedures provided by manning agencies, social benefits coverage, and also any areas that require further attention.
All data that is being provided to us will remain fully confidential, and you do not require to identify yourself and/or your employer when completing the survey. If there are any questions in the survey that you would prefer not to answer, please ignore these questions and move to the next question.
We thank you for your participation, and we will use your input to propose changes to the implementation of MLC that will further improve living and working conditions at sea.
